Kylian Mbappe picked up right where he left off, scoring twice as Real Madrid cruised to a dominant 4-0 win over Austrian side WSG Tirol in a preseason friendly on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. Eder Militao and Rodrygo also found the net as Los Blancos looked sharp ahead of their La Liga opener against Osasuna on August 19.
Early Pressure Pays Off
Madrid wasted no time putting Tirol on the back foot. Arda Guler rattled the woodwork just eight minutes in before Adam Stejskal pulled off a brilliant double save to deny Aurelien Tchouameni and the Turkish youngster.
The breakthrough came in the 10th minute when Eder Militao rose highest to meet Brahim Diaz’s cross, sending a looping header into the net.
Just three minutes later, Mbappe doubled the lead. Timing his run perfectly to latch onto Guler’s clever pass, the French star turned and smashed a shot into the roof of the net.
Mbappe at the Double
Guler struck the frame again early in the second half, but Madrid’s relentless attack paid off in the 59th minute. Tchouameni threaded a perfect ball in behind for Mbappe, who rounded the onrushing keeper and slotted home from a tight angle to make it 3-0.
Tirol’s only real threat came in the 69th minute when Tobias Anselm tested Madrid’s keeper, but the effort was easily saved. Madrid sealed the win in the 81st minute as Mbappe slipped a pass to Rodrygo, who finished clinically into the bottom corner.
Bayern Munich Also Wins
Elsewhere, Bayern Munich claimed a preseason victory over Grasshoppers, with Lennart Karl and Jonah Kusi-Asare on the scoresheet. Vincent Kompany’s side now turns its attention to the DFL-Supercup against Stuttgart on Saturday.
Data Debrief—Mbappe Hungry for More
After enjoying the best debut goalscoring season in Real Madrid history in 2024-25, Mbappe looks ready to go again. Against Tirol, Madrid racked up 3.5 expected goals (xG) compared to their opponents’ 0.41, taking 14 shots.
Mbappe was directly involved in three shots worth 2.0 xG, created three chances, and registered an assist. Only Guler, who created four chances and twice hit the crossbar, matched that level of attacking threat.
With this kind of firepower, Los Blancos seem primed for a flying start when La Liga kicks off next week.
